Former Indian President speaks in Sinhala
Yesterday at a function held at “Temple Trees’, former India President Dr Abdul Kalam participated as the distinguished chief guest. The occasion was organised in connection of a 10 year long term plan for usage of all three languages to be spoken and would have no discrimination in Sri Lanka. Because this occasion was specifically organised with regard to languages, Dr Kalam commenced his speech appropriately in our national Sinhala language. He had written a few words of Sinhala in English and made a short speech for the amusement of the audience, who no wonder were pleased and proud about his gesture.
Dr Abdul Kalam was a highly recognised Astronomical Engineer in India and was also known as a qualified scientist.
