“HNB’s on line has been hacked”?.In response to Gossiplanka news item yesterday 11th,the head of marketing and Media Chamika Weerasinghe had sent us the exact stand which is appended below:
They have admitted that a certain group via an e mail chain had obtained HNB’s internet access and customers ‘pin’ and secret codes using some type of technology, it was disclosed. The process is termed a “fishing attack”. They have accessed to the HNB’s internet through a web site. The objective was to obtain the serial numbers and to enter into illegal transactions. Their attempts had proved futile as the Bank had taken all possible precautionary measures that no one could access into our transactions and manipulate in an unlawful manner. Hence we had temporarily stopped certain internet transactions today the 11th and tomorrow the 12th.
The HNB these days are in the process of upgrading their internet network and other banking systems in to their computers. It is why he told that temporarily the internet transactions had been stopped. The usual internet business would commence on the 13th.In the meantime this will not affect credit card users and daily transactions are happening as usual

HNB ON LINE HACKED?.
There had been some doubt that a group of Hackers had tried to enter the HNB internet network for illegal transactions. For a while credit card and internet transactions of the bank were stopped. Nothing has happened to a single account of a customer. Today unusually many branches of the HNB had received e mails from unknown parties. They all have had doubts about these bogus e mails and had taken care not to respond to them, as their aim was to draw funds illegally.
