In this year’s Advanced level results those who topped the Island’s list in the four categories have been reliably confirmed and named according to their marks obtained by them by the Commissioner General of Examinations of the
Department of Examinations to the media.
Accordingly in Biology, Pramith Ruwanpathirana of Royal College, Colombo has been placed first. His father is the famous Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist Dr Ruwanpathirana attached to the De Soysa Maternity Hospital for women, in Colombo. His Mother is also a Medical Officer attached to the Anti-Malaria campaign. Dr Ruwanpathirana is also famous for delivering the first set of Quadruplets in Sri Lanka at the Badulla hospital.
Despite facing several constraints due to the prolonged ethnic war in Jaffna, a Tamil medium student has come first in Maths. His name is Kamal Kannan Kamala Wasan from Uduppidi American Mission College.
A village girl from Lunugamwehera area, a third child hailing from an agricultural family, Ishara Dilhani, who had studied amidst several constraints had become first in Commerce subjects. She is a student of Debarawewa National School.
Hailing from Kegalle’s St. Joseph’s Vidyalaya, Sachinthani Kaushalya had topped the list among the Arts category of Candidates Island wide. She had said that she was motivated by 7 other bright students in her class and hence she was instigated to make a valiant effort to study hard. She feels that the marks of her other colleagues would also be sufficient for them to enter the University.
