FRENCH EMBASSY SAYS NO FOR PRABHAKARAN’S STAMP ISSUE

“There are no Prabhakaran’s stamps in France. They may have been printed for a promotion”
:-French Embassy discloses

During the past few days there were a lot of speculation about the printing of 3 stamps with Prabhakaran’s photo with the Ealam logo. It had been revealed that the French Government had printed this stamp. These stamps have been distributed worldwide by the staunch LTTE supporters. The motive behind this had been that Prabhakaran is a person of great fame and an internationally renowned personality.
When this matter drew the attention of the Sri Lankan Government the authorities of the French Embassy in Sri Lanka had told that these stamps had not been officially published in France and also had confirmed that these stamps had not been sold at any Post office in France.
Then how were these stamps edited?
The authorities of the French embassy had disclosed that “La Poste”, the Postal Department of France prints stamps from pictures and logos received by them .But only up to a limit. But had denied the printing of Prabhakaran’s stamps with the logo.
Such stamps are printed for personal use and not granted permission to print them. These stamps may have been in the possession of certain people but had not been printed for official use.
