NEW CAPTAIN IS MAHELA

Mahela appointed as captain again

Mahela Jayawardena was appointed as the new captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team, the SLC announced a little while ago. Angelow Mathews has been renamed as the Vice-captain retaining his position.
Mahela had captained the Sri Lanka team for a couple of years earlier and under his captaincy he was able to become runners up in the ICC World Cricket Cup 2007. He is the most experienced cricketer in the Sri Lanka team as well as the most capped player.  It was learnt and reported that was not in favour of accepting the reigns of the captaincy. The reason for this is that Sri Lanka cricket has now been politicised.

DILSHAN RESIGNS FROM CAPTAINCY
SLC has reported that the present captain Tillekeratna Dilshan has handed over his letter of resignation as captain to the relevant authorities of the SLC. Under Dilshan’s captaincy Sri Lanka had lost a number of matches during his tenure as the captain. There was much speculation that he be removed from the captaincy reigns. It was learnt that both Sanga and Mahela were reluctant to take ocer the captaincy. In this regard the letter published in the Gossiplanka web site could be read from HERE:
