Five students remanded, six suspended in two universities of Sri Lanka

Jan 13, Colombo: Balangoda Magistrate G.A. Ranjani Atigala remanded five students of Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa University over suspicion of attacking and damaging the official residence and vehicle of senior student adviser Sanjeeva Prasad Jayaweera.
The students who have been remanded until January 17 are to be produced for an identification parade.
Meanwhile the Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University K.A. Nandasena suspended studentship of six student leaders of the University for two years.
They were charged of forcible detaining of the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar of the University in the University premises to press for their demands.
The students are the final year medical students.
