The Competent Committee has confirmed that the bungle had been due to the usage of old software:
The committee appointed by the President to probe into the AL bungle handed over their submissions in the form a report to the President.
The competent committee comprised of the following: The Chairperson was the Secretary to the Ministry of Technology and Research, Dharma Wijetilleke. The other members of the committee were the Vice Chancellor of the Colombo University Professor Shamika Hiburegama, the Vice Chancellor of the Uva University Professor Ranjit Premalal, and the Vice Chancellor of the Moratuwa University, Professor Ananda Jayawardena together with the Principal of Royal College Upali Gunasekera.
What had been revealed by the committee who investigated and probed into the AL ‘Bungle’ is yet to be released to the Media. The results revealed are now demanded by the Teachers Union. The Chairman of the Teachers Union Joseph Starline is demanding to reveal the findings to the people of Sri Lanka. They had admitted that although there had been some minor flaws students as a whole had not got affected and there were only minor victims. The General Secretary of the Teachers Unions, Mahinda Jayasinghe says it is only a ‘bluff’ by the competent committee.
The committee had admitted while finalising the results there had been some faults that had taken place. The Examination Department officials had used an old computer programme, the competent committee had revealed.
