The renowned 360 degrees presenter and popular announcer and news reader at the Derana TV station married his longstanding boy friend, by profession an environmentalist, by name Chandana Asela. After the religious ceremonies held at the Gangaramaya temple the wedding was held at the small island in the Beira Lake. The pictures of the function are shown below.
Dilka had met her fiancé Chandama Asela when she was an Advanced level student who had visited the Association of Young Zoologists, where Chandana had been a prominent member, to study about animals for her exam. She had made constant visits, had become close friends which had later turned into a love affair. Samanmali’s parents had made severe protests as their intention was to get Samanmali married to a Doctor or an Engineer. The affair had gone on for 4 long years and ultimately they had been convinced and Samanmali had got their blessings.
