The Deputy DMO who wanted to get the post of DMO by poisoning the current DMO has disappeared.

The person who was ambitious to become the District Medical Officer had attempted to gain his position soon by killing the entire family of the current DMO by poisoning him and his family. This had been proved when investigations were carried out to find out about the poisoning of the water contained in the official residence water tank where DMO of Sevanagala, Dr Chaminda Vitharana, his pregnant wife and their two sons had lived. 
The relevant doctor had disappeared. However the labourer who has helped him in this exercise has been caught and  has been arrested and he is to be produced before the Embilipitiya Magistrate courts.

Sevenagala Police since commencing investigations and was successful in arresting the person who has tried to kill the DMO of Sevanagala Dr. Chaminda Vitharana, his wife and his two sons by poisoning their water tank. 
As discovered so far, there have been several attempts made gradually over the last three months to kill the DMO by adding a poisonous substance to the water tank. 
In order to apprehend the suspected doctor, the police have raided his house at Sevanagala the day before yesterday (04th). Yet it has been revealed that the particular doctor has left the house and had vanished. At the same time according to a tip off, the police have taken information from the Embilipitiya hospital, yet the suspect has not been able to be located. 
Yesterday the police had got information that the suspect is absconding and moving from place to place to evade from the police. The labourer who has mixed poison to the water tank by following the orders, instructions and advice of the suspect has been caught, while on the act on  day before yesterday. The DMO had seen the labourer smelling the water after he has added poison to the tank. 
After questioning him, the DMO has suspected about schemes of action taken against him. Sevanagala Police have started investigations after the complaint. Chaminda Vithanage was working as the DMO of Sevanagala hospital. He is 30 years old. He is married to Kanchana Wanniarachchi who is a teacher. She too is 30 years old. She is  pregnant and she is three months pregnant. She is teaching at Embilipitiya President’s School. This couple has two boys; one is four and half years old and the other son just two and half years old. 
Dr. Chaminda Vitharana is from Matara District. He has come to Sevanagala hospital in the year 2005. He and his family had lived at the DMO quarters.  He is one of the famous medical officers in Sevanagala area. The whole area is clamoured at this news and the villagers have carried out a strong protest against  the attempt to add poison to the water the Doctors water attack at his official quarters. It is also reported that the villagers have assaulted the suspected Doctor on the 3rd. 
The arrested labourer has been close contact of the suspect. When he has been questioned by the police, he has revealed that he has added poison several times following the orders of the suspected doctor. This has been carried out for over 3 months. The DMO and his family have got sick several times. It is reported that this young doctor had fallen sick several times and had been under continuous treatment and his pregnant wife too had undergone a bad health condition similarly. 
As the police reveals the suspect has not tried to not poison the family at once as the suspects may have feared that this matter would come out. Therefore, they had planned to poison them at a slow pace, in stages. 
The labourer has confessed saying that the suspected doctor has promised to give him a promotion and at the same time he has promised a higher salary. 
The DMO and his family have left Sevanagala quarters for further treatment. The poison that has been used has not yet been still revealed.  The police believe without doubt that a conflict between the two doctors would have been the cause for it. 
The Officer-in- Charge of the Sevanagala Police Sevanagala Nilantha Bandara and Head of the Criminal Investigations Unit Police Inspector Rangajeewa are carrying out investigation under the supervision of Monaragala District Superintendent of  officer Lalith Gunawardana, and Assistant Superintendent of Police , Asoka Wijeratna.
Until the suspected labourer was produced before courts and was ordered to be remanded until the 9th .
