MAHELA BECOMES A MILLIONAIRE IN IPL

At the 2012 IPL Auction, Mahela
was sold for the second highest bid 
–US Dollars 1.4 M 

The auction to select the players for teams of the Indian Premier League 2012 which is to be held in April was held in India yesterday.
Among 69 players who contested for the auction, 25 were sold at various stakes and Mahela was fetched for 1.4 million US $ , Thisara Perera for  US $ 650,000, Muttiah Muralitharan for US $220,000 and Dinsesh Chandimal was purchased for US$50,000 from Sri Lanka.
The cricketer who was sold for the highest bid was India’s own Ravindra Jadeja. He was purchased by the Chennai Super Kings for US $ 2 Million. Mahela was purchased by Delhi Daredevils for the second highest bid which was US $1.4 million. 
Among the cricketers from Sri Lanka  whose names were enlisted for the contest are Chamara Kapugedara, Chanaka Welagedara, Thilina Thushara ,Tilina Kandambi, Jeewan Mendis, Suranga Lakmal, Dhammika Prasad, Sekkuge Prasanna, Dilruwan Perera, Chaminda Eranga, Lahiru Thirumanna, Dimuth Karunaratna, Kaushal Silva, Kusal Perera and Sachithra Senanayake. They are yet to be selected. 
Even though Kumar Sangakkara, Lasith Malinga and Tilakaratna Dilshan did not contest for the auction, they will be playing for the IPL. They did not contest at the auction because they have signed a contract with their teams for more than a year. 
Since Pune Warriors are not playing the IPL the auction was very competitive for the players than it had been in the previous years. For the auction yesterday, the famous Bollywood actor Sharuk Khan, the franchise owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders team too participated. 
The selected cricketers at the auction and the prices they fetched at the auction are shown below in the schedule.
