BIRD FLU CASE REPORTED FROM BINGIRIYA



There is danger about Bird Flu. Authorities have disclosed last evening:

From Bingiriya in the Kurunegala district it has been reported that from a Birds (fowl) farm about 50 % had died suddenly without any reason. The Health Department Director General of Gannoruwa,W.K. de Silva had confirmed that it had been due to a type of influenza and is not due to acquiring of Bird flu. However the symptoms are similar to Bird’s flu.
To get confirmation and to have this matter resolved the related authorities of the Health Department have been summoned. They have advised the public and the owners of fowl farms not to get perturbed and alarmed over this situation.

THE REPORT MADE YESTERDAY:
The Health Department officials had however warned the consumers of chicken and eggs to boil well before consumption as a precautionary measure. The birds that had died have had similar fashion to that of Bird’s flu symptoms .Their advice too is to take precautionary measures and to be careful when eating chicken and eggs that have not beem properly boiled.
Investigation are been carried out to find the causes for these deaths, these are been carried out in Bird farms in Bingirira, Hettipola and Chilaw areas.
The bird flu is also known as H 5 Ni decease and that had caused the death of 50% fowls in this farm located at Bingiriya.
